U.S. residents have until this coming Tuesday, September 22, to tell the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that it should allow shelter providers to have women-only services again.
In 2017, Hands Across the Aisle, Women’s Liberation Front, Concerned Parents and Educators, and Family Policy Alliance submitted a joint legal petition to HUD urging the agency to repeal the Obama regulation that forced women’s shelters to accommodate men based on self-declared gender identity.
Now HUD has proposed to repeal that mandate! Though we’re not 100% satisfied with the details, it’s a good step forward, and we’re pushing HUD to fix the details in the final regulation.
